Sinking Ship Gibraltar, The OS 35 a massive bulk carrier ship sinks off the coast of Gibraltar. Thousands of ships pass by and near Gibraltar every year, a week ago there was an incident with this ship at Gibraltar, so this is a very rare occurrence.

This massive bulk carrier ship is sinking off the coast of Gibraltar. Last week, in the bay of Gibraltar, the OS 35 collided with another ship causing damage. The ship was ordered out of the Bay and went to anchor off the east coast of Gibraltar.

The OS 35 found itself beached, and while the damage was being assessed, its crew was evacuated. This led the ship to start taking on water, thus allowing fuel, oil and other petroleum based fuel sources to seep into the water.

The Gibraltarian Government responded with immense speed to assess and take control of the situation in order to prevent a massive oil/fuel leak out into the sea and along the Gibraltar and Spain coast.

"The Captain of the Port has advised that the situation remains stable and, with the majority of the fuel now extracted from the vessel, that the operation is now moving from the emergency stage to its recovery phase.

As a result, the Gibraltar Contingency Council has agreed to step down from the Major Incident posture. The Gibraltar Port Authority continues to lead on response and recovery operations.

STANDING DOWN FROM MAJOR INCIDENT POSTURE." 6 September 2022
