As we have gone full swing into the new year, flights at Gibraltar Airport have continued and for the most part with out issue. December saw its numerous challenges at the airport, as did 1/1 with departure delays, see that article here.

Three flights came in for landing and departure this morning, all without issue or delay. easyJet's Manchester flight landed first at 10:19 am, followed by Bristol at 10:54 am, and London Gatwick at 11:00 am. I had to miss the Manchester flight landing because I was hiking up The Rock. I did hear it land while I was on Castle Steps.
All three flights landed and departed without incident.
I made it up to the Great Siege Tunnels just as the Bristol flight was out over the Alboran Sea, lining up with the runway. This morning, there were no little monkeys around, I think it may have been a little too cold for them, so for now I was left to my own devices.
The Bristol flight landed at 10:54 and quickly taxied to the terminal, as it was pulling up to the apron, the London Gatwick flight was already in sight and lined up with the runway. These two flights had very smooth approaches to runway 27 at Gibraltar Airport. The wind up The Rock was a little gusty at times, and I imagine down on the ground the gusts were coming and going as well.
Shortly after the landing of the A20N and the A319 flown by carrier easyJet, the Manchester flight was being pushed back. The Manchester flight was on the ground for less than an hour. Landing at 10:19 am, it was in the air at 11:13 am.
About a half hour after that departure, the Bristol flight was being pushed back. This same aircraft was here on New Years Day, and was the first departure of 2023, see that video here. A quick taxi over to runway 27, and the engines were throttled up for departure just after it turned around on the runway. I love the sound of the engines as they throttle up for departure. The Bristol flight departed at 11:44 am.
As the Bristol flight was on its take off roll, the LGW flight was being pushed back. The landings of these two flights and departures were right on top of each other today. It was great work by all those who are part of orchestrating it.
The delays we saw in December and the first day of the year are to be sometimes expected, as no one can control the weather, and at times there may be logistical issues....Like a phone line being cut...
But overall, the day of 15 January 2023 saw smooth morning landings and departures at Gibraltar International Airport. I'm hoping for the same in a couple weeks when I fly easyJet to London. Today's flight information and more pictures below.
