If you live in the UK no doubt the long cold and dreary winters can get to you. I experienced the same when I lived in the Northern US. Lots of long cold days during the winter. All I wanted was sun.

Well you are in luck. Gibraltar as a British Overseas Territory offers daily flights from the UK and with easyJet the tickets can be quite inexpensive.

Traveling to Gibraltar is a breeze. Because the airport is small, it's easy to get in and out. Once you are outside the terminal you can take a 20 minute walk to downtown Gibraltar, a 15 minute walk to the Holiday Inn Express at Gibraltar, or a 2 minute walk to the border with Spain. If you want a cheaper option, stay at the Hotel AC, a Marriott Brand Hotel in La Linea (see my full review of that hotel by clicking here), or Ohtels Campo de Gibraltar, both within several minutes walking of the border.
The beauty of flying from one of these UK cities is you have direct access from the Airport to all that you need! If you need a cab ride its 5 minutes to the Gibraltar City Center. All of the attractions are within a quick bus ride from Casemates Square, and hiking up The Rock for the views is nothing short of amazing. On a budget? Ask me how to get some good deals, leave a comment on one of my latest YouTube videos.
If you opt to stay on the Spain side, you can stay in La Linea, or rent a car and head up the coast 1 hour to Marbella. Dotted along the coast from Gibraltar to Malaga are plenty of hotels and vacation rentals. In my opinion flying into Gibraltar offers such an easy airport as a gateway to explore Spain and Gibraltar.
Crossing the border to Spain is very easy, especially as British Passport or EU Id card holder. Be sure to check Spains regulations before you travel. Each country has their own sets of rules regarding this.
If you come to Gibraltar for just a few days there is plenty to see and you won't get bored. Our weather in the winter stays moderate, there are sandy beaches all over Gibraltar and in La Linea, the Spanish border town just to the north of the Border. La Linea is safe, the town is small, and the city center is easily accessible to enjoy tasty Spanish Tapas and lavish Spanish wine (see playlist below for ideas).
For a quick getaway, with "NO" hassle travel upon your arrival to Gibraltar, it's a highly recommended trip, especially at these ticket prices. Although Nov-April is the slow season for Gibraltar and La Linea, it still maintains an average daily high of 16-18 degrees Celsius through December and January, usually filled with plenty of sunshine. The sea around our peninsula tends to moderate the weather here and make it ideal. It might not be the Canary Islands, but it's definitely a destination worth checking out.
